The swimmers representing the club were :-
LEWIS , RUBY , AMIE , RUARIDH and KARA
We are just back training after the winter break so although this gala is a little bit early for us, the results from all the swims were excellent. I decided in this instance to write five paragraphs one for each swimmer as follows:-
Lewis
Lewis swam 100 breastroke and whilst just outside his entry time he put in maximum effort and it was just his turns that needed a bit of work. We will pick up on this in training to help bring his times down on this stroke. Lewis did a 100 backstroke next and posted a good time. . Again just a wee bit of work on turns and this will improve his time no end. He puts in a tremendous amount of effort and I have no doubt he will smash these times at the next gala.
RUBY
Ruby smashed her personal best on 100 back and delivered a brilliant swim . This qualified for the final and she won a medal for her final swim which I am sure will be the first of many. Ruby then had 100 freestyle and her entry time was 1.41 however that did not last long as she produced a really fast swim of 1.27 again making the final on this stroke. She was 4th in the final despite her goggles filling with water and received another medal for her efforts. Her time in the final was 1.29 so despite the problem with the goggles it’s a credit that she just battled on. Ruby trains very hard and her times came as no surprise to myself or Susan.
Amie
Amie has been training really hard and she swam 100 back for the first time in competition and produced an excellent swim posting a time of 1.43 . I can honestly say she is definitely a backstroke swimmer and her improvement is there for all to see. She then swam 100 freestyle and smashed her entry time by three secs . Amie works hard in training and now that her breathing pattern hopefully has been resolved I am sure she will go from strength to strength.
RUARIDH
Ruaridh swam 100 backstroke and whilst his turns need a bit of work between the flags he was excellent. He posted a good time and in fact qualified for the final. He swam also really well in the final and received a medal for his efforts. He then swam 100 freestyle smashing his entry time out of site once again qualifying for the final.and received another medal for his efforts. He never gives up and always trains hard so the times like Lewis will tumble once his turns are ironed out,
KARA
Kara swam 100 breastroke and posted a really good time and the thing that pleased me most was her turns. She has listened to what both Susan and myself have been hammering home and she closed the gap on each turn with her underwater phases. Kara did not have long to recover and swam 100 back smashing her entry time so a really pleasing day all round for her. Again Kara trains very hard and it’s starting to produce results. The smile on her face after her swims makes it all worthwhile.
Overall we are delighted with the results from this gala given that we are only just back in training so the hard sets in sessions are definitely paying off so well done to all that represented the club in this gala . It is so pleasing to see smiling faces as the swimmers know that they have swam well given the dedication they are showing in the hard training sessions.
That is all for this one for just now but really pleased with the times and also the manner everyone trains in the hard sessions,
