This was an all day gala specifically designed so that a wide range of ages of swimmers can compete on their entry time which lead to some fantastic swims. Tim produced the most outstanding swim of the day clocking 28 for 50 free coupled with an excellent swim of 100 free by Ruby posting 1.16. A special mention goes to Kara who although just having two swims produced to really good times remembering that long course is very tough.
I also would like to mention Natalia – Emma and Darcy who have missed a lot of training due to pressure of exams and they still swam creditable times despite not being totally fit for long course. congratulations to Emma for breaking 1.16 on 100 Free for the first time and long course at that. Natalia also hit 30 secs for 50 Free simply outstanding. .Ruraidh swam very well as did Lewis with the latter posting personal bests on all his swims. Tim was outstanding all day and great to see a smile on his face after that brilliant 50 Free.
Last but by no means least are the two younger swimmers Sophie and Corrie with two fabulous times on their 50 free. This was quite a big occasion for them as it’s the first time being at RCP and competing long course. Their enthusiasm was great to see they were just brilliant. A big thanks goes to Nats and Darcy going down with the two younger swimmers to make sure they knew where to go in order to marshall for their swims. They volunteered to do this without me asking them which just shows the unity within this club moving forward,
There is no doubt whatsoever that the future of scorpions is very bright indeed with younger swimmers producing fast times and the more experienced swimmers continuing to produce and be a shining example to all in the club. I would also like to thank Susan for assisting in her coaching role in the club whilst also being instrumental along with many other unpaid volunteers to make sure all the swimmers at this gala were looked after and made the day a huge success.
That s it for just now until we are back early August date to be confirmed and hope you all have a great summer holiday and are back refreshed to start all over again.
