MORNING SESSION SUMMARY YOUNGER SWIMMERS

The three who swam 200 freestyle showed what training hard results in along with sound technique. SOPHIE smashed her PB out of site and both Corrie and HAMISH produced excellent times particularly as I think this was 200 Free for the first time in competition. STELLA produced two steller (excuse the pun) times in her swims and she is showing massive improvement so well done to her. LOLA swam really well in her swims and this was her first 100 IM in a competition. Along with a couple of others a few adjustments to her fly will help her which will be covered off in the coming weeks. FREYA was also tackling 100 IM for the first time and swam really well again just a couple of adjustments in training will help her. SCOTT produced two outstanding swims and showed when he concentrates what can be achieved so well done to him . NIAMH broke her PB for her freestyle swim and is showing great improvement just a case of working hard on her other strokes which she is well capable of doing.JESSICA I have to say is improving rapidly and she had two excellent swims. She is training hard and is also improving her stamina levels so onwards and upwards and times will come shooting down.

AFTERNOON SESSION SUMMARY OLDER SWIMMERS

MICAEL had an outstanding afternoon particularly on his 200 freestyle where is PB on 100 free is 1.16 he went through the first 100 on his 200 in 1.13!! to produce a brilliant time of 2,40. This is borne out of never missing any sets in training so can’t wait to see his next 100 freestyle. HAMISH and LEWIS had a personal battle on their 200 freestyle with HAMISH just taking it on the finishing touch great swims from both. LEWIS them smashed his pb on 100 back rounding off and excellent afternoon session. WILLIS also had a great afternoon with both his swims producing personal bests. It was great to see him back competing as he has a tremendous talent of that there is no doubt. TIM set a personal best on his backstroke which was awesome and was heading for a fast time on his IM but did not touch with both hands on the fly and was disqualified. It is so important to make sure you don’t fall foul of the rules and I will be covering that again in training. KARA was on both her PB times which was great and I can’t thank her enough for helping out with the younger swimmers in the morning as that in itself can be tiring as well I know. Just like to mention Willis was gutted that posting a split time in the relay of 29 secs was bettered by TIM who clocked 27 secs but it’s all in good fun and friendly rivalry which will push them both to faster times.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

I was generally very pleased with the whole day of swims where many produced outstanding swims. That having been said there is much to be done still on a number of aspects. I will be focusing on breastroke and fly particularly for those who wish to smash their times on their IM swims. As usual a huge thanks to Susan for all her hard work and also to all of the swimmers who give their all every time they compete. I can honestly say it is a privilege training them and also it was noticed by several coaches at the gala how every swimmer at scorpions encourages the other swimmers in the team when they are competing in their events. So well done and see you all shortly for more hard work.
