This was a gala which acted as a guage to see where the swimmers are in their training programs being early season.
A special mention to all the younger swimmers in the morning session who were swimming distances in some swims of 200 metres. they kept going despite the distance being a hefty challenge. As usual the team spirit was tremendous which helps so much when competing.
There were many good swims but also a lot of work to be done on stamina especially the swims over 100 metres. Good swims by Kayla, Aimee ,Lewis , Ruaridh , Kara Robb and Aggie. The latter swimmer Aggie is showing how talented she is and is already very fast indeed.
The afternoon session was for the older swimmers and there were quite a few personal bests. Special mention goes to Natalia who was very upset as her knee which has been bothering her for some time meant she could not complete her swims. Hopefully the doctor can establish what the issue is and get her sorted as soon as possible.
There were pbs for Jasper, Kara, Darcy, and Emma however Jasper did his usual and managed to get disqualified in 100 fly despite hitting 1.14. Swim of the day was definitely Darcy smashing her personal best by miles on her 200 IM.
Hamish did really well in his swims and this will give him valuable experience moving forward.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking Kara Robb for helping to marshall the younger swimmers and to Katie Young for helping send the young ones to marshaling in plenty of time for their heats.
Big thanks to Susan for covering the sessions in my absence having broken my right leg.Hopefully this is now mended and I will be back Tuesday of this coming week.
Finally huge congratulations goes to KaraArmstrong, Natalia , and Ellie for gaining times for East Districts next weekend.
Keep training hard as it’s getting tough in these galas so you know it makes sense
