BANISH THE FEARS OF LONG COURSE AT SUMMER SIZZLER – Commonwealth POOL-25th JUNE 2022

I have over the last few weeks changed the training program to bridge the gap between long course and short course. The reason being long course is far tougher than short course by a yard and a mile.

I honestly thought that if we get anywhere near the short course times I would be more than happy. From the very first swim the level that the team achieved was just remarkable .Time after time we had swims which simply blew the short course times to bits. I will attempt to cover all the swims however particular mention should be made of Darcy, Cambelle, and Katy for the massive improvement in their times with Katy winning a hot spot prize for coming first in a very hard heat. Hopefully Katy will start to realize what a talented swimmer she actually is.

There were many new club records and existing records broken as follows:-

  • NATASHA 100 FREE 1.13.67
  • NATASHA. 50FREE. 32.92
  • NATASHA. 59 BACK 39.69
  • KARA 100 FREE 1.11.65
  • KARA 50 FREE 31.55
  • KARA. 100 FLY 1.32.35
  • ELLIE. 50 BACK 40.57
  • ELLIE. 100 FREE 1.20.49
  • ELLIE. 50 FREE 35.93
  • JASPER. 100 FREE1.05.32
  • JASPER. 100 FLY 1.20.23
  • JASPER. 50 FREE 29.41

Jasper has been in the club a long time and has endured some major lows so this was a day he and both Susan and myself will not forget in a long time as his swims were simply superb.

Kara smashed the 50 free breaking the 32 barrier at long last and shows the tremendous speed and endurance she has.
Natalia is now showing the talent I always knew she had with some fantastic times and club records.
Eliie also showed that hard work pays off with some brilliant swims and club records.

I would also like to thank Kara Robb for coming to watch the others swimming and going in for the warm up and she loved the experience.

Gutted for Emma who was unable to swim at this one particularly as she has been smashing her training times but don’t worry Emma there will be plenty other galas to come.

So well done to all who swam and to the parents for the support not only at this summer sizzler but also throughout the long season. Big thanks to Susan for organizing this one which could not have been easy.

Hope you all have a great summer holiday and are back for some hard training and hopefully continued success in the pool.

LOTHIAN LEAGUES ROUND TWO MAY 7th 2022

THE FOLLOWING SWIMMERS WHO ALL SWAM WELL REPRESENTED THE TEAM AT THIS MEET:-

VILARA, ELLIE, JASPER, ROWAN, NATALIA, ALICE, EMMA,DARCY

THIS WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE A TOUGH ONE AS WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A 6 WEEK FITNESS PLAN. HAVING SAID THAT THERE WERE NUMEROUS PERSONAL BESTS.

JASPER SMITH BROKE THE BOYS 200 FREE RECORD GOING 2.23 AN OUTSTANDING SWIM SO CONGRATULATIONS TO HIM. MENTION ALSO HAS TO BE MADE OF THE NEWER MEMBERS OF THE TEAM ROWAN AND NATALIA WITH GREAT SWIMS ON EVENTS WHICH MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN IN THERE COMFORT ZONES,

EMMA HAD A BRILLIANT 100 BACK AND HER TIMING ON BREASTROKE WAS SLIGHTLY OUT DONT WORRY EMMA EASILY FIXED AS WE ARE WORKING ON A NEW STROKE AT THE MOMENT. THERE WAS A WELCOME RETURN TO COMPETITION FOR ALICE ON 100 FLY GREAT EFFORTBY THE WAY.

ELLIE HAD A PB ON BOTH HER SWIMS AND DARCY HAD A GREAT 200 FREE AND 100 FLY. WORTH MENTIONING THE FAST SPLIT TIMES IN THE RELAY ALL FOUR SWAM VERY FAST IE ELLIE, EMMA, ROWAN AND DARCY.

THERE ARE SEVERAL ASPECTS WHICH I AM PLEASED ABOUT AND OTHERS WHERE MORE WORK IS REQUIRED. SWIMMING IS NOT AN EXACT SCIENCE EVERY SWIMMER HAS DIFFERENT STROKES AND NEEDS WHICH MAKES THE HARD WORK ALL THE MORE WORTHWHILE.

WE HAVE MUCH IMPROVED OUR STARTS BUT NEED TO WORK ON OUR TURNS SO THAT IS SOMETHING WHICH WILL BE ADDRESSED SHORTLY.

ANYWAY MAXIMUM EFFORT WAS THERE FOR ALL TO SEE.

WELL DONE TO ALL
